Jonas Vingegaard, the Danish two‑time Tour de France champion, suffered facial injuries after crashing on a training ride near Málaga, Spain, when an amateur cyclist, Pedro García Fernández, followed him down a descent. The rider was seen in a Strava post claiming Vingegaard tried to drop him and that he became angry when Fernández stopped. Another rider, S.Enduro, reported finding Vingegaard bleeding on the road and that the professional rider refused help. Visma‑Lease a Bike has urged amateur cyclists to give professional riders space for safety. Vingegaard is expected to recover in time for the UAE Tour and will also race the Giro d’Italia in May.
