Venezuelan interim President Delcy Rodríguez issued a statement on Sunday urging the United States to refrain from interfering in the country’s internal politics. Rodríguez, who assumed office after the January U.S. operation that led to the capture of former President Nicolás Maduro, said Venezuela must resolve its own issues without external orders. The call follows recent agreements between Venezuela and U.S. oil firms and reforms in the hydrocarbon sector. The U.S. military operation in early January forced Maduro’s capture in Caracas, and Rodríguez has since negotiated with U.S. officials and opposition leaders. Rodríguez rejected claims that Washington dictates Venezuelan policy and demanded respect for national sovereignty. Negotiations with U.S. and opposition continue.
