Former Wasps forward Kearnan Myall has become performance director of GB Snowsport and is using Formula‑One technology, brain science and meditation research to help Britain’s snowboarders, freestyle skiers and alpine athletes prepare for the Milan‑Cortina 2026 Winter Games. Myall, who never skied before, says the mental‑pressure skills he learned in rugby give him an edge in coaching Olympic competitors. He has worked with McLaren to develop new ski‑binding materials, and with Oxford researchers to apply quantum‑analysis biomarkers that identify ruminative thinking and support concussion management. Athletes such as Zoe Atkin, Kirsty Muir, Mia Brookes and Charlotte Bankes are being trained under his program, which aims for four to eight GB medals in total, with one to two medals expected from the snow squad. Myall credits his rugby background for understanding the need to treat athletes as whole people, encouraging creativity and mental well‑being as much as physical training. The Winter Games begin next week in Milan, and GB’s snow athletes will be under his guidance in pursuit of podium success.
