ROMANIA - The Ministry of Energy announced that the Cerna-Motru-Tismana Stage II hydroelectric project has received a formal environmental permit. The 10‑MW plant, already about 90 % complete, will add 13.6 GWh of clean power to the national grid each year, enough to supply more than 5 000 households. The decision follows a technical review by the Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forests and clears long‑standing bureaucratic delays. Energy Minister Bogdan Ivan said the approval will help Romania move toward energy independence and finish seven other strategic hydro plants adding 214 MW in total. The project will also finish the Vija dam and final water‑discharge works to ensure safety and operational reliability.
