Romanian police issued a warning on Sunday, 25 January, that an AI‑generated photograph has been circulating online after a crime in Timiș County. The image, created entirely with artificial intelligence, is said to mislead the public and add pain to the victims’ families. The police urged citizens to verify sources, refrain from sharing unverified content and show respect and empathy toward the victims. The statement was posted on the police’s Facebook page. Separately, DIICOT opened a criminal file and detained two young men suspected of supplying illegal drugs to minors involved in the murder of Mario Berinde in Cenei. The 24‑year‑old drug dealer was arrested, while the 17‑year‑old suspect was released. The investigation reveals that the 13‑year‑old victim had been involved in drug use and was allegedly drugged at the time of the crime. The case, which ended with the murder on 19 January, has sparked further scrutiny of drug trafficking and juvenile violence in the region.
