Romanian police conducted 41 raids in Gorj county on Wednesday morning, targeting private homes and occupational health clinics. Authorities seized documents and arrested 31 people who allegedly forged medical certificates to claim they were unfit for community service work. About 36 persons, including seven medical staff members, were taken to the Târgu Jiu prosecutor’s office for questioning. The operation, carried out by the Gorj Economic Crime Investigation Service with support from the Gorj County Police Inspectorate and the Gorj Jandarmry Inspectorate, aimed to prove criminal activity involving abuse of office, conspiracy to abuse office, intellectual fraud and use of false documents. Investigators say the illegal certificates were obtained between 2022 and 2025 to avoid unpaid community service mandated by courts.
