Romanian MP Alina Gorghiu demanded explanations from the Ministry of Justice and the court after a 35‑year‑old woman was murdered by her boyfriend in Hârlău, Iași. The victim had been granted a protection order in August, which was revoked in September at the victim’s request. Gorghiu said the revocation was a mistake and that the state must assess risk properly. She also asked why the ministry had not submitted a viewpoint on a draft law to prevent femicide and domestic violence, which has recently been approved by Senate committees and is awaiting full Senate vote. The incident comes amid nearly 60 femicides recorded this year.
