Romanian MEPs Iuliu Winkler and Lorant Vincze were barred from speaking in the European People's Party group for six months after missing a vote of censure against European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen. The motion, launched by the far‑right Patriots for Europe, failed in the European Parliament. More than ten EPP members, including seven Hungarians, were punished for abstaining or not voting against the motion. The sanctions restrict the MPs’ ability to lead the group on new legislative dossiers but do not affect their existing roles. Jessika van Leeuwen of the Netherlands voted for the motion.
