Romanian junior Matei Todoran has won his first round at the Australian Open 2026, defeating German Oliver Majdandzic 7‑5, 6‑3 after beating fellow Romanian Yannick Theodor Alexandrescou earlier. Todoran will now face Kai Thompson of Hong Kong in the second round. In the women’s side, Maia Ilinca Burcescu was beaten by Ukrainian Sofiia Bielinska 0‑6, 4‑6. The Romanian representation remains limited to the junior draw with Todoran and Burcescu. The matches were played on the main court in Melbourne.
