Romanian Health Minister Alexandru Rogobete has clarified that the proposed "end‑of‑life" law will not be adopted until comprehensive consultations are held with medical professionals, professional societies and representatives of religious groups. He stressed that the legislation must ensure dignified care for terminal patients, and is not about stopping life‑support devices. The consultations are set to begin this year, with the process expected to be thorough and not rushed. Rogobete warned that the topic could be easily politicised or misunderstood, and emphasised that dignity and humane treatment should be the central principle of the future law. The remarks come amid renewed scrutiny of the "end‑of‑life" debate following a case of suspected medical malpractice at St. Pantelimon Hospital in Bucharest, where two nurses are under investigation.
