Romanian fuel chain Rompetrol, in partnership with the SMURD Foundation, has installed 80 semi‑automatic defibrillators at its service stations nationwide and added several units in public spaces across Constanța and Prahova counties. The devices are positioned on heavily trafficked roads, highways and busy public areas to improve survival chances in cardiac arrest cases. Employees received training on the equipment and first aid to enable rapid response before medical teams arrive. Zhanibek Nugertayev, Rompetrol Downstream CEO, said the initiative strengthens emergency response and showcases the private sector’s role in public safety. Raed Arafat, president of the SMURD Foundation, highlighted the importance of every minute saved. In Prahova the project was carried out with Ploiești City Hall, installing units in six high‑traffic public sites, while five more were placed in Constanța. Locations are listed on the Emergency Situations Department map and the FiiPregatit.ro platform.
