Romanian Defence Minister Radu Miruţă announced that, as of 25 January 2026, the country has not shot down any Russian drones despite possessing the capability to do so. He explained that radar blind spots can occur because some drones have radar‑absorbing coatings and because terrain can deflect radar signals, especially at low altitudes near the Danube. Miruţă said the Ministry has orders to engage drones if they pose a threat, but such incidents have not yet occurred. The statement was made during an interview on Digi24’s “În Fața Ta” programme.
