Romania will lift its natural‑gas price ceiling on 1 April 2026, ending the pandemic‑era cap that has been extended by OUG 6/2025. Minister of Energy Bogdan Ivan explained on Digi24 that, once the cap expires, final gas prices will be those set in supply contracts, reflecting market evolution. To support vulnerable households, the government will move from voucher‑based assistance to a direct‑invoice mechanism, ensuring subsidies are paid straight to consumers without the need for separate vouchers.
