Romania has announced that 9.6 billion euros of the 16.3 billion euro SAFE programme credit will be spent on new military equipment. The Ministry of National Defence listed the purchases, including 298 infantry fighting vehicles, 139 Piranha 5 armoured transporters, 12 H225M multi‑mission helicopters, air‑defence missiles and radar systems, and naval patrol ships and drone‑strike weapons. The credit comes from the European Union. The programme aims to modernise the armed forces with equipment meeting NATO standards.
