Romanian Social Democratic Party is urging the government to include financial assistance for about 2.8 million pensioners in the current fiscal budget. The proposal would provide between 600 and 1,000 lei to pensioners earning less than 3,000 lei, distributed in two tranches in April and December. The total budget impact is estimated at 2.35 billion lei. Minister of Labor Florin Manole acknowledged the need for social solidarity while noting fiscal constraints.
