Polish foreign minister Radoslaw Sikorski has publicly demanded that Elon Musk halt Russia’s use of the Starlink satellite network, accusing the Russian army of employing the service to guide its BM‑35 attack drones toward Ukrainian cities. Sikorski, who also serves as Poland’s vice‑premier, tweeted his appeal on X, citing a report from the Institute for the Study of War that Russia is expanding the operational range of its drones via Starlink. The United States‑based institute noted that the system’s 500‑km range could expose large swaths of Ukraine, Moldova, Poland, Romania and Lithuania to attack. Musk has denied that Starlink equipment was sold to Russia, and Ukrainian intelligence says the terminals were acquired through third‑party channels. A blanket shutdown of Starlink in Ukraine is unlikely, as the network is also widely used by Ukrainian forces for communications. The call follows the nightly launch of 165 Russian drones, of which Ukraine’s air defence downed 135, amid the ongoing war with Russia.
