Police raid 41 sites in Gorj County on Wednesday morning to investigate the use of forged medical documents that allowed people to avoid unpaid community service ordered by courts. The Economic Crime Investigation Service of Gorj, working with a prosecutor from Târgu Jiu Court and gendarmerie units, executed search warrants at private homes and occupational‑medicine offices. The operation seeks to prove offenses of abuse of office, incitement, intellectual fraud and forgery. Investigators found that between 2022 and 2025, 31 people obtained and used counterfeit medical certificates declaring them unfit to work, enabling them to evade the community‑service duties. Thirty‑six suspects will be brought to the prosecutor’s office for questioning. This case highlights corruption in the enforcement of court‑ordered community service and the misuse of medical documentation.
