Placebo score Royal Shakespeare Company production of Brecht's The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui Placebo will provide the musical score for the Royal Shakespeare Company's staging of Bertolt Brecht's 1941 play. The production, directed by Seán Linnen, will feature Mark Gatiss as the title character and will open on 11 April at the Swan Theatre in Stratford‑upon‑Avon. The band, known for hits such as "Nancy Boy" and "Pure Morning", has said the project is a chance to explore themes of power, alienation and moral decay that echo contemporary politics. The play itself is a satirical allegory of Adolf Hitler’s rise to power, and Linnen stresses its relevance to today’s far‑right threat. The collaboration marks Placebo’s first foray into theatre, adding a new dimension to the band’s long‑running career.
