NASA is preparing its Artemis II mission, the first crewed flight to the Moon in fifty years. The launch is scheduled for early February 2026 and will carry four astronauts on a ten‑day lunar fly‑by, studying the far side of the Moon without landing. Commander Reid Wiseman, a Marine veteran who has spent 167 days in space, will lead the crew. The mission is a step toward a future lunar landing with Artemis III. The astronauts are currently in mandatory medical quarantine to prevent illness before the flight. This marks the United States’ return to crewed lunar flight since Apollo 17 in 1972, and represents a significant advance in NASA’s lunar exploration program.
