Moldovan President Maia Sandu accused Russia of spending almost 2 % of Moldova’s GDP - about 7 billion lei - to interfere with the 2025 parliamentary elections. The claim was made during a joint press conference with Polish President Karol Nawrocki in Warsaw. Sandu said Russia used disinformation, cyber‑attacks, illicit funding of parties, sabotage, paid protests and attempts to provoke street violence. She highlighted Moldova’s resilience, said the pressure accelerated reforms and deepened alignment with EU standards, and praised Poland’s support for Moldova’s resilience and commitment to European integration, citing EU membership as the clearest guarantee of security, democracy and freedom.
