MetaWealth, a European investment platform, announced a €22 million battery energy storage system (BESS) in Romania. The project will provide 130 MWh of storage - 100 MWh in Dumbrava, Neamţ, and 30 MWh in colocated sites - with the first 30 MWh becoming operational in Q3 and the full capacity online by Q4. The investment aims to support Romania’s renewable energy generation, which currently lacks sufficient storage, and is part of a broader strategy to add about 650 MWh of capacity worth €110 million. The company, founded in 2023 and operating in Spain, Italy, Greece, Romania and Poland, plans to attract institutional and high‑net‑worth investors at the upcoming MIPIM event in Cannes. This move signals a shift from a real‑estate focus to broader institutional real‑asset investments, underscoring the growing importance of energy‑storage infrastructure in the European market.
