Kremlin spokesperson Dmitri Peskov warned that European politicians are too weak to withstand President Donald Trump’s influence, calling the current political generation in Europe “weak” and accusing it of double standards and hypocrisy. Peskov said Russia will closely monitor U.S. plans to build the “Golden Shield” anti‑missile defence system, and added that the Kremlin will not discuss any matter with European diplomatic chief Kaja Kallas until she leaves office. He cited the reaction of European leaders to Trump’s public conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Davos forum, noting that Europeans were outraged, whereas they were not when Macron spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Peskov described Trump as an experienced politician who prioritises American interests and criticised the U.S. approach for being inconsistent with the multipolar world Russia promotes. The Kremlin also hinted that it will keep a close watch on the U.S. desire to acquire Greenland, and that it has not yet responded to Trump’s invitation for Putin to join the Gaza Peace Council.
