Jonathan Anderson has launched a new era of Dior haute couture in Paris, turning the historic house’s classic 1947 New Look into a silk georgette cocktail dress with kinetic pleats inspired by Kenyan-born British ceramicist Dame Magdalene Odundo. The show, staged at the Rodin Museum, featured a mirrored catwalk beneath a canopy of moss and silk flowers, and was attended by celebrities including Rihanna, Pharrell Williams and Josh O’Connor. Anderson said he is focusing on shock value and the creative process rather than nostalgia, arguing that ideas can make money and that Dior’s founder was a “genius business guy.” The collection will be displayed in a week‑long exhibition at the Rodin Museum, which will also showcase archival Dior looks and Odundo’s ceramics. The event coincided with Victoria Beckham receiving the French Minister of Culture’s Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters at a ceremony in Paris, where she spoke about her commitment to Paris fashion week.
