Romanian health experts warn that early detection of diabetes can prevent serious complications. Dr. Simona Carniciu, a specialist in diabetes, nutrition and metabolic disorders, explained that the disease often progresses silently, especially type‑2 diabetes, and that many patients are diagnosed only after complications arise. She listed early symptoms such as increased thirst, frequent urination, persistent fatigue, excessive appetite, blurred vision, unexplained weight loss, slow‑healing wounds, dry mouth, recurrent infections, numbness in fingers and post‑meal drowsiness. Carniciu stressed that recognising these signs and undergoing routine blood‑glucose tests can save lives. The article also reviews the three main forms of the disease - type‑1, type‑2 and gestational - describing their typical onset, symptoms and risks. It calls for lifestyle changes, including balanced diet and regular physical activity, alongside medical monitoring to manage the condition effectively.
