DUNKIRK PORT TO REOPEN WITH NEW ROSEY‑DUNKIRK FERRY LATER THIS YEAR. A €40bn (£35bn) regeneration programme, already backed by €4bn of public‑private investment, will transform the port into a low‑carbon logistics hub. Former transport minister and mayor Patrice Vergriete said the project will redeploy the region’s industrial base. The plan includes battery factory Verkor, hydrogen car work with Renault Alpine and a switch to electric arc furnaces at ArcelorMittal, supported by €850m in French subsidies. The ferry service, possibly operated by DFDS, would link Rosyth in Fife with Dunkirk, reviving freight and passenger links that ended in 2018 and 2009.
