A 13‑year‑old boy implicated in the Cenei murder case is undergoing medical and psychological assessments, with the family’s cooperation, to determine whether he will remain at home or be institutionalised. The Protection of the Child agency in Timiș announced the evaluations on 26 January 2026, following a report by the IPJ Timiș-Criminal Investigations Service. The child, who cannot be held criminally responsible, is under a special protective supervision order. The agency said the outcome will depend on evaluation results, and that the boy may receive counselling, psychotherapy, family support or medical treatment. Local residents protested in Sânmihaiu Român, demanding that the child be removed from the area. Jandarm officers removed him from the grandparents’ house after about 150 people gathered. The prosecutor noted that because the boy is not criminally liable, no medico‑legal psychiatric examination can be ordered. The case is still under review.
