Buzau, Romania - The Inspectoratul pentru Situații de Urgență in Buzău announced that more than 30 sanctions were issued after inspections revealed that most of the 53 civil‑protection shelters in the county lack essential safety equipment such as filtration systems and airtight doors. Only five shelters are fully operational, while 48 are non‑operational or only partially functional. The inspections, carried out last year, uncovered 33 deficiencies; 31 warnings and two contravention penalties totalling 1,000 lei were imposed. Authorities plan a follow‑up inspection in spring 2026 to verify the measures taken.
