A bus operated by Braicar was trapped in a large pothole on Nicolae Bălcescu street in the historic centre of Brăila after an old cast‑iron water pipe burst. The pipe, damaged by repeated freeze‑thaw cycles, collapsed and created a crater that swallowed the bus’s rear wheels. Two cranes lifted the vehicle out and no passengers were injured. Traffic was temporarily restricted while utility company CUP „Dunărea” Brăila repaired the pipe and applied Ultragrip DN 300 manholes to stabilize the road. Similar pipe damage is also being addressed on I.L. Caragiale street. Work on the road will resume once weather permits.
