Bucharest mayor Ciprian Ciucu has met with vice‑premier Tánczos Barna and sector mayors to plead for additional funds, saying the city’s budget is critically low and that it has no financial autonomy. Ciucu noted that of the 317 million lei received from the government, only about 20 million remain after salaries and subsidies, leaving the city unable to cover even basic maintenance. He warned that, without extra money, the city will be forced to raise public transport fares. The meeting, scheduled for 15:00, follows Ciucu’s earlier statement that the Capital’s municipal budget is “not even enough to cross the street.”
