Bucharest’s General City Council is set to vote on January 29, 2026 on an urban regeneration project that would demolish the fence surrounding the Parliament Palace. The plan covers Arsenal Hill and the former Uranus neighbourhood, proposing the removal of the barrier to improve pedestrian flow, create interconnected recreational zones, urban promenades, green‑space restoration and more efficient traffic circulation. Implementation requires a protocol signed by the city council, the Romanian Government, the Chamber of Deputies, the Senate, Metrorex and the Romanian Patriarchate.
