Aumovio, a German auto component supplier spun off from Continental, announced it will lay off up to 4,000 employees worldwide by the end of 2026 as part of a restructuring of its research and development activities. The cuts will affect several countries, including India, Singapore, Romania, Serbia, Germany and Mexico. In Germany, the company estimates several hundred positions will be eliminated and is negotiating with employee representatives to find alternative solutions. A voluntary layoff programme will start in March at affected German sites. In Romania, the company confirmed in December that 641 positions across all organisational levels would be eliminated as part of its global efficiency plan. The company said the measures will be implemented responsibly and will continue investing in strategic R&D such as software‑defined vehicles, autonomous mobility and advanced display and braking systems. CEO Philipp von Hirschheydt said the cuts are needed to maintain the company’s technology leadership in a difficult market environment.
