Romania’s National Tax Administration (ANAF) spokesperson Adrian Nica clarified that the agency does not audit individuals simply because they are relatives of others. Instead, ANAF will target only those with undeclared income, citing examples such as people earning millions on adult‑content platforms yet reporting no taxes, and individuals purchasing high‑value assets under relatives’ names. Nica also announced ongoing checks across the country in the alternative transport sector, where fraud involving driver‑platform companies is still common. The announcement was made during the EY Romania Annual Fiscal Conference.
